Kris and Ireen, owners of Slieve Elva B&B are committed to engaging with youth groups within their community. As parents and former teachers, they are no strangers to the importance of immersive activities and social groups for children. Keen to get involved and do meaningful things for their locality, Kris and Ireen joined as volunteers to the  the 9th Clare Ennistymon Scouts group, and restarted the group after the extended period of COVID-19 restrictions.

After 2 years into the restart, and with Kris at the helm as group leader and Ireen as section leader, they are now proud to have Beavers (6y-8y) and Cubs (9y-11y) sections up and running again. With the assistance of the adult scout group they provide their groups with activities and skills that aim to develop and grow each individual at their own pace Socially, Physically, Intellectually, Character, Emotionally and Spiritually. Such skills and activities include:

• Emergencies and First aid procedures
• Hillwalking and preparing for hikes
• Pioneering, Camping
• Water activities
• Back woods survival
• Local cleanups with the Burren Ecotourism Network
• Local Sustainable and Environmental activities such as tree planting, building bug hotels and more.
