Heritage Week is an opportunity for volunteers, community groups and heritage enthusiasts and celebrate their experience, knowledge culture and practices.
The Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark will be contributing to and hosting a series of events and activities in celebration of this year’s Heritage Week (August 12th to 20th). Such events include
- A talk with Dr. Eamon Doyle on the Latest Discoveries in the Burren, Kilfenora – 13th August, 2:30pm – 3:30pm
- A pre-release of one of their Burren animations.
- A talk on the geology of the Burren, the development of the Geo stack, and the history of the wells in Lisdoonvarna, Lisdoonvarna Library, Aug 17th 2-3pm with Dr. Eamon Doyle, Geopark and John Hehir, Lisdoonvarna Spa Wells and Heritage Centre.
- A fascinating talk with Dr. Eamon Doyle at the Caherconnell International Furnace Festival – August 20th, Caherconnell Stone Fort
The animations and Geo Stack were developed with the support of the Geological Survey of Ireland.
